The Catholics are always exploiting the successful Japanese civilization's resistance to missionaries in the 16th century. It is total hypocrisy. 

The civilization of the Japanese wasn't destroyed, unlike the civilizations of the Inca, Mayan, Filipinos, and the pre-Columbian Mexicans. The religions of the Mayan, Filipinos, and the pre-Columbian Mexicans is extinct, Shintoism lives.

The Catholics are always telling a horror story of their persecution. While their missionaries were working to capture Japan, back in Europe they are doing horrible things.

The Jews are persecuted and oppressed. Women are burn at the stack accused of being witches. There is the Spanish Inquisition. There is religious persecution of other Christians by burning them at the stack.

Japanese civilization would have been decimated. Japan would have been colonized. Many Japanese would have ended up being tortured or burned at the stake.

No Japanese should feel guity over what happened.
